BrickLink Series 5 sets still available as LEGO boosts production numbers again
All five sets in Series 5 of the BrickLink Designer Program are still available to pre-order nearly 18 hours after going live, as the LEGO Group has quietly boosted production numbers again.
The LEGO Group announced last week that it would be increasing manufacturing capacity for Series 5’s finalists, having anticipated additional demand compared to previous series. Where once these sets were capped at 30,000 each, their availability now appears to be more elastic, as BrickLink (which is owned by the LEGO Group) has at least twice bumped up the total number of copies of certain sets.
As of around two hours after the sets initially went live on June 10, BrickLink’s HTML code revealed that SleeplessNight’s Adventure in Transylvania had been boosted to 40,000 total copies, while Mictur’s Popcorn Wagon had jumped to 34,000 sets available to pre-order. At the time, Transylvania had sold roughly 80% of that increased figure, while the Popcorn Wagon had sold around 50% of its new total.

Krackenator’s The Thieves of Tortuga, meanwhile – the second set of the five to reach its minimum funding goal of 3,000 copies – had sold 75% of its total allocation of 30,000 copies. Fast forward to this morning, and it’s now down to around 67%. That’s not because people have cancelled orders, but because (again according to the HTML code) the LEGO Group has boosted its availability to 40,000 copies.
Adventure in Transylvania’s progress bar is still hovering at the 80% mark, but rather than making zero sales since last night, the LEGO Group has instead increased production numbers for SleeplessNight’s spooky castle once again, taking it up to a maximum of 50,000 available to pre-order. The other three sets in this round – Popcorn Wagon, Mushroom Village and Antique Shop – are all at their original capacities of 30,000 sets each.

That suggests the flexibility around these numbers can travel in both directions, because the Popcorn Wagon had originally jumped to 34,000 – presumably as a result of early demand once crowdfunding went live – but is now back down to 30,000, with roughly 70% sold. It’ll be interesting to see if the number ticks up again (and the progress bar therefore goes back down) as that one reaches the current limit of sets.
And the same is true for the rest really, as there’s seemingly no end in sight to the maximum number of available copies of each of the five finalists in Series 5. The LEGO Group has not communicated the actual limit this time round, so it’s tough to say at this point when any of these sets will actually sell out – or indeed if any of them will. It may be that the LEGO Group is able to completely fulfil demand across this reduced pre-order window, which is open for two weeks rather than the usual four.
Best not to take that chance if you’re still contemplating ordering any of these sets, mind, because once they’re gone they’re gone, regardless of how many were available to pre-order. The ‘buy now’ links in the table below should add your chosen sets to your bag at LEGO.com, but if not (the direct links are a little wonky sometimes) you can click through the set names instead to pre-order your copies via BrickLink.
