This LEGO brick got a technological upgrade with its very own OLED screen
This LEGO brick contains a hidden secret that’s only revealed when it’s plugged in.
YouTuber Ancient James has 3D printed a LEGO brick that looks just like any other element – until you plug it in. Then it’s revealed that it’s actually a tiny OLED screen, as revealed in a recent video on his channel.
Inside the 2×2 sloped brick, the core of the circuit is made up of four small scraps of PCB, hosting the RP2040 microcontroller and other support components. James then used a series of 3D-printed jigs to hold the boards while soldering, creating a compact package small enough to fit inside. The OLED screen was then attacked, measuring just 0.42″. To seal it off, a translucent plastic resin was added to the entire build, holding it in place
The screen is moulded impressively close to the original shape of the brick, making it hard to tell that anything is there. When turned on, it appears as though the element itself is lighting up. You can see the entire build process in the embedded video below.
