LEGO Church holds brick-built baptism for newborn boy
The very first baptism of its kind has taken place in Devon, as part of a LEGO Church initiative.
Set up at All Saints Church in Okehampton, Devon in 2021, LEGO Church aims to make church more accessible to children and young people. It involves using LEGO elements to make church activities more inviting to those outside the community—such as baptisms.
As a result, Angus and Michelle Farrelly had their two-month-old son Oliver christened in a font made from LEGO bricks. The baby had attended LEGO church since he was born.
“LEGO brings people together and encourages people of all ages to learn and pray together,” Mrs Farrelly told BBC News.

She added that she “wanted our LEGO church families to share this part of the Christian faith and for many it would be the first opportunity to witness and experience a baptism”.
Indeed, according to Reverend Prebendary Stephen Cook, team rector of the Northmoor Mission Community, many of those who attend LEGO Church are not regular churchgoers, meaning that the church reaches a wider variety of people from different age groups and backgrounds.
