LEGO confirms more details on this week’s LEGO Super Mario reveal

The LEGO Group has revealed more details on this week’s LEGO Super Mario reveal for MAR10 Day, setting expectations accordingly.

Nintendo’s day devoted to all things Mario – March 10, Mar 10, MAR10, geddit? – is already confirmed to include ‘big updates’ and ‘even bigger reveals’ from the LEGO Group, courtesy of a teaser published to the company’s socials earlier this week. The LEGO Group has now offered more details on what to expect – and what not to expect.

Specifically, the set in question won’t be an 18+ model. At least one adult-targeted set is currently rumoured for 2023, in the form of 71426, which is said to be launching in December. If that is the case, we’re probably just a little too far out from the release window for a full reveal of the successor to 71411 The Mighty Bowser.

If previous years are anything to go by, we’re more likely looking at the reveal of the newest digital figure in the LEGO Super Mario range, joining Mario, Luigi and Peach. That’s pure speculation on our part, but the LEGO Group did unveil 71403 Adventures with Peach on MAR10 Day in 2022. Just saying…

The company says its MAR10 Day video will also include a teaser for something new (in addition to its product reveal), though hasn’t offered any specifics beyond that. With The Super Mario Bros. Movie right around the corner, there’s always a chance that it could be related to the animated film, but we’ll have to wait until Friday to find out for sure.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
