LEGO delays retirement of three Ideas sets to 2026

The LEGO Group has delayed the retirement of three LEGO Ideas sets to 2026, which means a total of 12 crowdsourced sets are now staying in the portfolio for at least another two years.

The retirement dates for several sets have shuffled around as of November 2024, including three from the current LEGO Ideas line-up. None of these affect sets slated to retire this year – that list is basically locked in now – but instead hand an extra year on shelves to products previously scheduled to retire in 2025. 21323 Grand Piano, 21330 Home Alone and 21333 Vincent van Gogh – The Starry Night are all now destined to retire in 2026.

That’s good news for anyone looking to grab these sets before they’re gone for good, because you’ve now got even more time to catch them before they sail off shelves permanently. And these aren’t new sets, so you’ve already had quite a bit of time anyway: once 21318 Tree House finally retires this year, 21323 Grand Piano will be the oldest LEGO Ideas set still in production, having originally debuted in August 2020.

It suggests the functional instrument is selling well despite its lofty price tag, and likewise the festive fun served up by 21330 Home Alone, a 2021 set that’s going to enjoy at least five years on shelves. These three sets join the complete line-up of 2024 sets in sticking around through 2026, but expect at least some of this year’s releases to receive their own extensions eventually.

Check out the complete rundown of LEGO Ideas sets organised by their retirement dates below. And don’t sleep on those leaving this year: 21329 Fender Stratocaster and 21336 The Office have already sold out at LEGO.com in the US…

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
