Each season of the LEGO DREAMZzz TV show has seen the debut of a striking beast-based build for loner Zoey, with previous physical set releases being 71476 Zoey and Zian the Cat-Owl and 71479 Zoey’s Cat Motorcycle.
That existing line-up of creative creatures is now bolstered by 71494 Zoey’s Time Owl, one that’s described as a 2-in-1 model, but in fact consists of three separate builds. Fans can look forward to assembling a basic fledgling owl, then the time owl and finally an owl boat.

The LEGO DREAMZzz set’s primary build will take up the bulk of your construction time, with the accompanying illustrated instruction manual detailing exactly how the blue, gold and pink bird will come together. While there are no surprises here, the completed fledgling owl does boast impressive printed eyes, plus a ball and socket head and limbs, all allowing for a range of potential display poses.
Once the main 71494 Zoey’s Time Owl model has been finished, builders are then offered up a choice or making either the time owl itself or an owl boat variant, although it’s worth noting that only one can be assembled at a time.

The time owl is easily the most striking of the three model options, adding a large, gold-rimmed clock to the beast’s blue chest and further expanding its wingspan with numerous posable elements and a clever use of recoloured plant parts for feathers.
The alternative owl boat build ditches the wing enhancements, tilting back the creature’s head and limbs to provide a bird-based water craft for a Dream Chaser to ride in. There’s only room inside for one character, but 71494 Zoey’s Time Owl single minifigure does the job perfectly.

For this LEGO DREAMZzz set, Zoey gains a magenta hair piece, as well as a new printed torso, legs and double-sided head. The ace archer also now has pink hands, with previous versions featuring either one coloured hand (and one yellow hand) or two white hands.
71494 Zoey’s Time Owl is rounded out with two additional figures in the shape of Kitty and a Cyberling, with the diminutive nightmare villains having made their debut in the January 2025 wave of LEGO DREAMZzz models.
The tiny henchman features semi-translucent pink wings and a large, finned helmet, as well as an extending claw device perfect for swiping unsuspecting moggies.
LEGO DREAMZzz 71494 Zoey’s Time Owl and 71476 Zoey and Zian the Cat-Owl comparison

When compared to 71476 Zoey and Zian the Cat-Owl, 2025’s LEGO DREAMZzz offering is a scaled down build with fewer pieces, minifigures and accessories. However, 71494 Zoey’s Time Owl is more affordable than the previous model and yet still manages to deliver plenty of bang for your buck.
The combination of a 3-in-1 set, an updated Zoey minifigure and two additional figures results in a LEGO model that definitely deserves a place in every DREAMZzz fan’s collection.
Our honest opinion: The LEGO DREAMZzz design team has successfully managed to deliver yet another inventive beast build that stays true to the theme’s creative approach.
