LEGO 43008 Nike Dunk plays history by the numbers

The recently-revealed 43008 Nike Dunk includes subtle references to the histories of both the LEGO Group and the iconic sneaker company.

We had our first look last week at 43008 Nike Dunk, a 1,180-piece model launching on July 1, 2025. The upcoming build represents the first-ever collaboration between the LEGO Group and Nike, with more sets from the multi-year partnership due to be revealed later this summer.

In addition to a blue and white brick-built sneaker, a rotatable basketball and the Dunk logo, 43008 Nike Dunk also dips its toe box into the history of both companies, thanks to its included minifigure.

The exclusive B’Ball Head is kitted out in a blue basketball outfit, complete with matching printed Dunks on its feet. A closer look at the minifigure’s top reveals the number ‘32’ on the front of the character’s jersey, below a LEGO Sports logo, and ‘Nike 72’ on the back.

The former number refers to the year that the LEGO Group was founded by Ole Kirk Kristiansen, a subtle nod to the Danish toy company’s origins and an Easter egg that also popped up in the recently-revealed 60473 The City Tower.

When it comes to sneakers, ‘72’ is most likely a reference to 1972, the year that the Beaverton, Oregon company launched the Nike Cortez. The classic shoe silhouette was worn by a number of athletes during the 1972 US Olympic Games, driving huge interest and sales, and was the first to feature the iconic Swoosh logo.

In addition to physical sets, LEGO Nike footwear and apparel will also be arriving later this year, in the shape of the Nike Air Max Dn x LEGO Collection on August 1 and the Nike Dunk Low x LEGO Collection on September 1.

43008 Nike Dunk is available to pre-order right now from LEGO.com, with the set scheduled to launch on July 1, 2025, priced at £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99.
