LEGO is massively expanding its Hungary factory’s capacity and size

Another massive LEGO factory expansion has been announced as Hungary’s factory is set for a huge investment to increase size and capacity.

An expansion to the LEGO factory in Nyíregyháza, Hungary has been confirmed as the LEGO Group aims to meet continued demand. This latest expansion will include additional packaging modules, warehousing areas, and miscellaneous facilities to add 30,000 square metres to the site and increase the packaging capacity by almost 30 percent. An additional 300 team members are also expected to be hired as part of the expansion.

“The LEGO Group has a strong history of operations in Nyíregyháza, celebrating 15 years of production this year,” states Carsten Rasmussen, Chief Operating Officer at the LEGO Group. “This investment is one of several strategic expansions in our supply chain network, setting us up for long-term growth so we may continue to delight more children and fans around the world.”

“Nyíregyháza is a world-class manufacturing facility with a highly skilled and motivated workforce. I am thrilled that through our investments, we can bring additional production volume and activity in the next couple of years.”

Work on the expansion begins this year and is expected to be finished in 2025. It follows another massive investment into the site started in 2021 and, further back, an expansion in 2016 that doubled the factory’s size.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
