LEGO expert shares extra-strong building technique on TikTok

A LEGOLAND Discovery Centre builder has shown how to make even the tallest LEGO structures strong enough to last.

@Masterbuilder_Alec is always sharing LEGO tips and tricks on his TikTok and this one was inspired by the builders on LEGO MASTERS USA. Each year, the show features builds that get smashed to pieces–but Alec shares how you can build models that even withstand a wrecking ball (kind of).

“Building something that’s both tall and strong out of LEGO is challenging, but it can be done,” said Alec. “I’ll show you one technique that I used to create this dragon staff.”

Inside this sturdy build, Alec has built a core of bricks going up, with stud-on-side pieces at intervals along the side of the model. This allows him to easily attach panels to the side of the structure, to give it extra stability and strength. Watch the video below to see how Alec puts a smaller but equally strong creation to the test.

The LEGO Discovery Centre builder also asked for recommendations for how else to put his creation through the ringer, so we’ll be certainly keeping an eye on TikTok to see if any brick-based experiments take place.
