LEGO Fabuland Tribute’s instructions reflect theme’s storytelling past

Creative storytelling will be an essential part of 40506 LEGO Fabuland Tribute when the LEGO House exclusive set launches next month.

The LEGO House gave us our first official look at 40506 LEGO Fabuland Tribute this past week, with the sixth addition to its exclusive series due to release on March 1. The 1,026-piece model is a nostalgic nod to the long-running theme, which debuted in 1979 and lasted all the way through to 1989.

Designed by LEGO House Master Builder Stuart Harris and LEGO Senior Designer Markus Rollbühler, 40506 LEGO Fabuland Tribute not only recreates four anthropomorphic animals in brick-built form, but will also continue the theme’s approach to creative storytelling through its specialised instructions.

Larger LEGO Fabuland sets included building instructions with short stories for parents to read to their children while they constructed the models. The manuals featured the theme’s animal characters having fun making the set, with the idea being to spark kids’ imaginations for play and model-making.

That tradition is confirmed to be carried on into 40506 LEGO Fabuland Tribute, using original drawings by LEGO House Associate Master Builder, Didac Perez. It’s been revealed that the instructions will be separated by Edward Elephant, Joe Crow, Dr. Lucy Lamb and Clive Crocodile, so that the set can be assembled character-by-character, either alone or with friends and family.

An initial listing for the 40506 LEGO Fabuland Tribute manual is already up on the official Building Instructions page, although the PDF is unlikely to be available to view before March 1.

40506 LEGO Fabuland Tribute will be available exclusively at the LEGO House from that date, priced at 649 DKK.
