LEGO fans are cramming sets inside things, for science

So you can’t fit a LEGO Lamborghini inside a real Lamborghini – but what about a Jeep inside a Jeep, a Ferrari inside a Ferrari or, erm, a Tree House inside a treehouse?

These are the hard-hitting questions currently being answered over on the LEGO subreddit, where users have taken Legonerdburger’s useless Lamborghini fact and run wild. It all started when the redditor discovered that you can’t fit a copy of 42115 Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 inside a real Lamborghini (so you’re best finding alternate transport for that particular trip to the LEGO Store).

Since then, the rest of the community has come together to perform a vital consumer service, determining whether LEGO sets fit inside their real-life source material. You know, for science.

42122 Jeep Wrangler inside a Jeep Wrangler

FarrellBeast found out that you can in fact fit 42122 Jeep Wrangler inside a real Jeep Wrangler, for instance. Good thing, too – we’d be pretty disappointed with any Jeep that doesn’t have ample interior space. The Wrangler probably wasn’t specifically designed around carrying its LEGO counterpart, but it’s good to know that it’s entirely possible.

10252 Volkswagen Beetle inside a Volkswagen Beetle

10252 Volkswagen Beetle, meanwhile, easily fits inside the boot of a real-life Beetle (h/t mightyscoosh). Their cream-coloured 1964 Beetle doesn’t match the bright blue hues of the LEGO set, but otherwise this is an experiment that’s gone down well with redditors amid the cavalcade of flash cars otherwise doing the rounds.

42143 Ferrari Daytona SP3 inside a Ferrari

One of those motors is none other than a Ferrari, which unfortunately doesn’t have adequate space to hold 42143 Ferrari Daytona SP3. These supercars clearly aren’t designed with boot space in mind – although this year’s flagship Technic set might have squeezed in if they’d tried rotating it. (The set’s box is peculiarly rectangular.)

75895 Porsche 911 inside 10295 Porsche 911

Does the LEGO Porsche 911 fit inside a real Porsche 911? We may never know, but helpusernotfound has at least figured out that the Speed Champions version doesn’t fit inside 10295 Porsche 911. A valuable contribution to this community experiment, for sure.

21318 Tree House inside a treehouse

Why limit the fun to cars? MurseInAire snapped a photo of 21318 Tree House inside a real-life treehouse, as apparently placed there by the accommodation’s Airbnb hosts.

75192 Millennium Falcon inside the Millennium Falcon

This one… probably doesn’t count.

But there you have it: all the LEGO sets that can (and can’t) fit inside their real-life inspiration, according to reddit. Our main takeaway? Don’t buy a supercar for its interior space.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
