LEGO Marvel Fantastic Four homage spotlights missing minifigure

A new LEGO Marvel comic tribute has been shared online ahead of the Fantastic Four movie next month, but it spotlights a missing minifigure.

The Marvel social media accounts have revealed a new promotional LEGO poster for next month’s Fantastic Four film, paying tribute to the 1961 comic Fantastic Four issue 49, which just so happens to have a reprint coming later this week.

It’s a twist on the usual LEGO poster to promote upcoming films, though this time there is a set to tie into the new movie. It’s not the first time that Marvel has paid tribute to the comic cover, remaking it with Galactus’ purple colour scheme in 2023, too.

The new LEGO version serves to spotlight a character missing from the film’s tie-in LEGO set, as well, who has been featured on every variant of the cover otherwise.

Every variant of this cover, with Galactus in the background and his hands shooting beams, has featured The Silver Surfer. There is no such character on the LEGO version, even though The Silver Surfer is in the upcoming film, but in the form of Shalla-Bal instead of Norrin Rad.

The movie’s only LEGO set – 76316 Fantastic Four vs. Galactus Construction Figure – only has minifigures of the Fantastic Four and the buildable Galactus figure, with no Silver Surfer minifigure to speak of.

The 427-piece LEGO Marvel set is available now, featuring all-new characters for the theme for £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99. One fan has even shared instructions to turn Galactus into an upscaled minifigure.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
