LEGO reveals five finalists for future LEGO Ideas Disney 100 set
The LEGO Ideas team has revealed the five finalists in contention to become a future LEGO Disney set, as part of its latest challenge celebrating 100 years of fairytales.
Hosted in conjunction with Target, the ‘100 Years of Fairytales’ challenge tasked builders with demonstrating what Disney means to them through 50 to 800 bricks. The LEGO Ideas team has spent the past few weeks whittling down more than 200 entries to five finalists, all of which will now move into a fan vote – and the winning entry will be turned into an official LEGO product.
In short, you will one day be able to buy (a version of) one of the five models below, only one of which is anchored around minifigures. Scroll down to see all five potential future sets, and head over to the LEGO Ideas blog to cast your vote. The fan poll will close on July 20, and both the winner and runner-up will be announced no later than September 1.
Fantasia (1940) – The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

Designed by BrickStability, this character build depicts the Magic Brooms from Disney’s 1940 classic Fantasia. Sorcerer Mickey from the same movie is currently available in 71038 Disney 100, and you can bet his value will skyrocket if this set ends up winning the fan vote.
Disney Magic

2A2A’s celebration of all things Disney is the only one of these designs to incorporate minifigures, and thanks to the challenge’s restrictions on new moulds only reuses existing elements – but does propose a brand new Belle minifigure. Yet it’s the massive Sorcerer Mickey build in the middle – and its surrounding nods to Disney movies – that’s the real draw here.
Just a Little Bit of Pixie Dust

Easily the smallest of the five designs chosen for the public poll, ChaMi’s Just a Little Bit of Pixie Dust is an adorable Miniland-scale recreation of Tinker Bell. After a year chock full of wallet-busting LEGO Disney sets, this would be a welcome change of pace.
Dumbo the Flying Elephant!

For their contest entry, VNMBricks has taken the bones of an already-successful concept – the flying creature build seen no fewer than three times across the LEGO Harry Potter range, in sets such as 75979 Hedwig – and adapted it to Disney, here allowing Dumbo’s ears to flap by turning a crank.
Bambi

We’re about to get our first LEGO Bambi piece in 43230 A Homage to Walt Disney, but Jimmi-DK’s vignette magnifies Disney’s most iconic deer across 798 pieces. The design is an adaptation of their LEGO Ideas project, which has just over 4,000 supporters at the time of writing.
