LEGO Fortnite dives deeper than actual LEGO Marvel sets

LEGO Fortnite is proving to be a hotbed for minifigure designs that dive deeper into Marvel characters than actual sets do.

Not only did LEGO Fortnite beat LEGO Marvel to the punch (barely) with a minifigure design last year, but now a new wave of LEGO Marvel minifigure skins are deeper cuts into Marvel lore than nearly any LEGO Marvel set has managed to do. Recent additions include Marvel mutants x-23, Psylocke, Domino, and Cable.

Cable was featured in live-action in Deadpool 2 and Psylocke was played by Mei Melançon and Olivia Munn in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Apocalypse respectively, x-23 and Domino have featured in some Marvel movies but are comparatively rarer. It still makes them some relatively deep cuts when it comes to Marvel characters, especially when you consider the sheer number of Marvel figures that have appeared in the MCU over the years.

While the LEGO Group might not ever pursue such deep-cut characters from the comics, understandably preferring instead to base sets on more mainstream scenes and characters from the MCU, it seems that LEGO Fortnite is increasingly becoming a good spot for LEGO-style takes on characters that we may not ever get in real-life minifigures.

Each character (x-23, Psylocke, Domino, and Cable) can now be purchased in the Fortnite store for 1,500 V-Bucks or as part of a bundle, including one that features three of the new Marvel characters. As well as the LEGO skin for each of the characters, you’ll also get access to the standard character skins, which can be used in other game modes like Battle Royale, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival. If you already own the regular character skin, you don’t need to buy the LEGO version and will automatically see it in your library.
