LEGO Harry Potter 76444 Diagon Alley is the most complete yet

LEGO Harry Potter 76444 Diagon Alley Wizarding Shops is the most complete take on the ship yet, even compared to collections of multiple sets.

Despite its scale, the upcoming 76444 Diagon Alley Wizarding Shops is easily the most complete LEGO Diagon Alley in 24 years of LEGO Harry Potter. The set was recently revealed by Polish online retailer Media Expert and is one of five LEGO Harry Potter sets listed ahead of a likely release next year.

While we wait for more details regarding the microscale model, we can compare the new Diagon Alley build to what the theme has had to offer previously and see just how complete the 2025 set is.

Before the most recent reboot of LEGO Harry Potter, there were many versions of Diagon Alley made up of single or multiple models including 10217 Diagon Alley, which covered three of the businesses on the extensive collection of streets. Even considering only the main thoroughfare, it covers a minuscule percentage of the street. As part of the more recent take on LEGO Harry Potter, there have been three different versions of Diagon Alley before 76444 Diagon Alley Wizarding Shops, only one of which is microscale.

2018’s 40289 Diagon Alley is arguably the most comparable to 76444 Diagon Alley Wizarding Shops thanks to its scale but not much else. While the 2018 build has just five buildings, the 2025 model features at least 14 different buildings. The two sets both include interior spaces and the 2025 set is more thorough in its coverage, but it does notably reuse the idea of a minifigure head for the sculpture outside of Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.

Putting scale aside, the open imagery for 76444 Diagon Alley Wizarding Shops showcases that it isn’t dissimilar to 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition and 75978 Diagon Alley combined, though the former still covers many more businesses and buildings at a much smaller scale.

It will take up less space on display too but only includes 12 characters as nanofigures rather than the 30 minifigures in the two sets combined. Still, that’s a decent effort from the 2,750-piece model. 76444 Diagon Alley Wizarding Shops offers enthusiasts a decent space-conscious alternative to the two larger LEGO Harry Potters displayed together and it still has more shops and businesses.

From Eeylops Owl Emporium to Gringotts Wizarding Bank, the Leaky Cauldron and the Daily Prophet’s headquarters, it’s hard to know how the build could be more finished until you add the miniature Knight Bus model. After 24 years (in 2025) of LEGO Diagon Alley builds, a practically complete version of the iconic street is finally hitting shelves, though not at the scale you may have been expecting.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
