LEGO Harry Potter 40452 Hogwarts Gryffindor Dorms delayed in the US?

The LEGO Group has removed both of this month’s LEGO Harry Potter gifts-with-purchase from the US store calendar, suggesting they’re either delayed or cancelled.

The original flyer for LEGO Stores in the US showed both 40452 Hogwarts Gryffindor Dorms and 30392 Hermione’s Study Desk available with qualifying purchases from October 25 through November 7, but a revised calendar has now omitted both of those promotions.

40452 Hogwarts Gryffindor Dorms was scheduled to be free with a $100 spend on LEGO Harry Potter sets both online and in-store, while the smaller polybag would have been free with a $40 spend on LEGO Harry Potter products in-store only.

Whether both of those promotions have been cancelled altogether or simply delayed has yet to be confirmed, but we’re expecting to receive clarification from the LEGO Group shortly.

Shipping delays have already affected the LEGO Harry Potter line once this year, as 76391 Hogwarts Icons Collectors’ Edition was delayed by almost two weeks in the US, and the same could well have happened here. Given the boxed set has already been sent out to reviewers, it’s unlikely that it’s been cancelled altogether.

Neither 40452 Hogwarts Gryffindor Dorms nor 30392 Hermione’s Study Desk have been confirmed for markets outside the US yet – they aren’t on the October LEGO Store calendar in the UK, for instance – so there’s also no indication of whether similar delays would affect any planned promotions in other regions.

If they do show up elsewhere, though – whenever that may be – expect parity across currencies, as is usually the case with gifts-with-purchase (so, a £100 / €100 spend for 40452 Hogwarts Gryffindor Dorms, and a £40 / €40 spend for 30392 Hermione’s Study Desk, presumably with similar online/in-store terms).

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
