LEGO Harry Potter 76423 Hogwarts Express & Hogsmeade Station brings designer full circle

LEGO Harry Potter 76423 Hogwarts Express & Hogsmeade Station isn’t just a nostalgic return for fans, but also for one of its designers.

The recently revealed 76423 Hogwarts Express & Hogsmeade Station is the latest in a long line of magical trains bound for Hogwarts. In fact, the history of brick-built versions of the Hogwarts Express is so deep that it follows a current LEGO Harry Potter designer all the way from his childhood into adult life.

LEGO Harry Potter designer George Gilliatt worked closely on 76423 Hogwarts Express & Hogsmeade Station and took to Twitter to discuss the full circle journey that working on the set took him on.

“When I first joined the LEGO Group, my dream model to design was the Hogwarts Express,” he wrote. “One of the first ever LEGO sets I built was the 2001 version of the iconic train, which I received for my 5th birthday!

“I loved working on this new version of the train, which includes 2 carriages for the first time and the much-requested Hogsmeade Station,” Gilliatt continued.

Having designers that have such a deep connection to the content shows in the small details that they pay attention to. For example, Gilliatt also explained the thinking behind some of the changes made to the LEGO Hogwarts Express’ design.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
