LEGO Harry Potter summer 2024 sets revealed – Durmstrang ship, troll and more

Seven new LEGO Harry Potter sets are joining the Wizarding World line-up this summer, and images of the entire wave have just apparated into view.

It’s a big year for the boy wizard as the LEGO Group kick-starts its latest modular Hogwarts, which began in March with 76426 Hogwarts Castle Boathouse and 76430 Hogwarts Castle Owlery. Joining those two sets on June 1 are 76435 Hogwarts Castle: The Great Hall – the biggest Great Hall to date – and 76431 Hogwarts Castle: Potions Class.

You’ll also find new buildable characters, creatures and vehicles in the mix, including the first Durmstrang ship since 2005, along with brand new wand elements in 76439 Ollivanders & Madam Malkin’s Robes. Check out all the details below, with images courtesy of German retailers JB Spielwaren and Lucky Bricks.

76427 Buckbeak

Price: €49.99 Pieces: 723 Release date: June 1, 2024

76427 Buckbeak joins LEGO Harry Potter’s buildable creature compendium this summer, but leaves behind the mechanical flapping wings of its flying predecessors – Hedwig, Fawkes and the like – for a more straightforward articulated build. The 723-piece Hippogriff doesn’t include any minifigures.

76431 Hogwarts Castle: Potions Class

Price: €34.99 Pieces: 397 Release date: June 1, 2024

An unusual Hogwarts set purely because it isn’t comprised exclusively of tan and nougat elements, 76431 Hogwarts Castle: Potions Class recreates a portion of the school found underground – and in doing so tips its hat to one of the earliest LEGO Harry Potter sets, 2001’s 4705 Snape’s Class. You’ll find Professor Snape, Hermione Granger, Seamus Finnigan and the first-ever Pansy Parkinson in the box.

76433 Mandrake

Price: €59.99 Pieces: 579 Release date: June 1, 2024

When worlds collide: this mash-up of LEGO Harry Potter and the Botanical Collection may find some appeal beyond the confines of the Wizarding World, surreptitiously blending in with the rest of the LEGO Group’s buildable plants. It doesn’t look like it includes a sound brick, which is probably for the best all things considered.

76434 Aragog in the Forbidden Forest

Price: €16.99 Pieces: 195 Release date: June 1, 2024

Arachnophobes, look away now: 76434 Aragog in the Forbidden Forest delivers possibly the most realistic version of the Wizarding World’s giant spider to date, but somehow manages to keep the price down in the process. The 195-piece set is due to retail for just €16.99 (according to JB Spielwaren), and includes minifigures of Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. It’ll pair very nicely with 76424 Flying Ford Anglia.

76435 Hogwarts Castle: The Great Hall

Price: €169.99 Pieces: 1,732 Release date: June 1, 2024

Coming in at a whopping 1,732 pieces, 76435 Hogwarts Castle: The Great Hall is the biggest and most expansive detailed version of this particular section of Hogwarts yet, featuring a representation of the courtyard and the stairs leading down to a connection point for 76426 Hogwarts Castle Boathouse. You’ll also find removable rooms in the rocky base, including a common room, dungeon and bathroom.

That’s not just any bathroom, either: it’s the dungeon bathroom in which Professor Quirrell lets loose a cave troll, paving the way for the first LEGO Harry Potter troll since 2002. The bigfig uses brand new moulds to capture the unique shape of the creature, and is accompanied by a cast of 10 different minifigures – among which is the first Fat Friar ghost.

76439 Ollivanders & Madam Malkin’s Robes

Price: €79.99 Pieces: 744 Release date: June 1, 2024

The LEGO Group is continuing its smaller-scale Diagon Alley this summer with 76439 Ollivanders & Madam Malkin’s Robes, which adds a couple of new magical shops to last summer’s 76422 Diagon Alley: Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. The highlight here is easily the brand new moulded wands you’ll find in Ollivanders, but there’s a lot to discover all across the set, including a wheelchair in brown and a few brand new characters.

76440 Triwizard Tournament: The Arrival

Price: €139.99 Pieces: 1,229 Release date: June 1, 2024

Rounding out the pack is 76440 Triwizard Tournament: The Arrival, which includes the first LEGO Harry Potter Durmstrang ship since the original Goblet of Fire wave all the way back in 2005. It’s absolutely massive, too – and yet the designers have still managed to find space to include a new Beauxbatons carriage. Madame Maxime swaps out her dress piece for long minifigure legs, and is joined by Viktor Krum, Fleur Delacour, Igor Karkaroff and Barty Crouch Jr.

These sets are billed for release in June in Europe, but may not arrive in the US until August. We’ll know as soon as they debut on LEGO.com, which will likely be later today. Don’t forget to check out this year’s LEGO Harry Potter advent calendar too.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
