LEGO Harry Potter 76405 Hogwarts Express – Collectors’ Edition won’t fit on normal track

LEGO Harry Potter 76405 Hogwarts Express – Collectors’ Edition may be an impressive recreation of the train, but it’s too big for normal tracks.

76405 Hogwarts Express – Collectors’ Edition has been officially revealed with plenty of images to look through. Now that we can see the finer details of this build, you might notice that the track featured as the display base in the set is one stud wider than normal LEGO track pieces.

When looking at the brick-built track in 76405 Hogwarts Express – Collectors’ Edition next to a standard rail element as featured in LEGO CITY, we can see that it’s just one stud wider.

This difference might have been made to accommodate additional detail in the huge Hogwarts Express recreation, but it still means that the new set is incompatible with the standard track system.

However, while this might be annoying for those hoping to integrate Hogwarts Express into their LEGO railway, you still have an option to do as much as 76955 Hogwarts Express will remain available until it retires later this year, and that train is compatible with normal track.

All things considered, the level of detail present in 76405 Hogwarts Express – Collectors’ Edition may not have been possible with the thinner track, and it’s arguably more of a display piece than something to motorise and travel around a display as well. At least an option is still available for those wanting to include the Hogwarts Express on their brick-built railway.
