LEGO Ideas 40487 Sailboat Adventure GWP available now for VIPs

LEGO Ideas 40487 Sailboat Adventure – the latest gift-with-purchase based on a contest-winning fan design – is now available with qualifying orders for VIPs.

You’ll need to spend an eye-watering £200 / $200 / €200 to get your hands on the freebie, which was originally proposed by Yan Chevalier in last year’s LEGO Ideas dream holiday contest. That’s tied for the LEGO Group’s highest-ever GWP threshold, but in return you’ll get what looks like a solid build, two minifigures and even a pair of dolphins.

Thankfully, there’s plenty of new stuff launching today – both in the US and worldwide – to help you reach that total order amount. LEGO Star Wars 75309 Republic Gunship would get you there all on its own, for example, although there are also dozens of smaller sets available to help cobble together a £200 / $200 / €200 spend.

But let’s be honest: spending that amount on LEGO is never difficult. The only tricky bit is deciding what to buy. We can’t make that decision for you, but we can point you in the direction of our reviews of all the summer sets, which you’ll find both under the reviews tab and linked in our master list of new LEGO sets launching in the US today.

You’ll need to be a VIP member to add 40487 Sailboat Adventure to your basket before August 4, when it becomes available to everyone – at least while stocks last. There’s no guarantee it won’t sell out before then, though, so get yourself signed up to the LEGO Group’s loyalty program if you haven’t already. If you need a little more incentive, doing so today will also earn you a free blue VIP keychain…

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
