LEGO Ideas ’90s challenge sets announcement delayed

Those waiting for the LEGO Ideas ’90s challenges results today have longer to wait to see which projects will be sets, as a delay is now confirmed.

Don’t expect a blog update announcing the winners of the two LEGO Ideas ’90s challenges, both of which will become future sets. The LEGO Ideas team have announced via a banner at the top of the platform that the results of these challenges have been delayed from June 2 to June 12. It’s a hefty delay in the announcement, but it at least explains why the results did not arrive earlier today, as previously confirmed.

The finalists in the first of the two challenges, asking for huge models, include The X-Files, Edward Scissorhands, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Jumanji and The Fifth Element.

The finalists in the smaller challenge include a second Buffy the Vampire Slayer model, as well as submissions based on Mr. Bean, The Mighty Ducks, Wallace and Gromit and Forrest Gump.

While we wait for the results of these two challenges and to see which submissions will become future sets, two new LEGO Ideas models are now available – 21357 Luxo Jr. and 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine. You can check out our review of the latter and all 16 minifigures by clicking here.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
