The winners of the recent LEGO Ideas Building a Legend challenge have been announced, with a total of four entries managing to cross the finish line.
The LEGO Ideas team recently threw down the gauntlet to racing fans, with a new challenge based around Ayrton Senna and the iconic McLaren MP4/4. The contest offered up prize packs of car-related sets as incentives, with the centrepiece being LEGO Icons
Although only three prize winners were due to be announced, the LEGO Ideas team has now revealed that a total of four lucky entrants have been selected. Leading the pack is the Grand Prize Winner, with Celebrate Senna by TheBrickBang. The fan-designed set features Ayrton Senna driving on a wet track, complete with a Brazilian-inspired backdrop made from multiple small elements.

Racing into pole position as a runner-up is Delusion Brick and the unique F1 Run Boy Run. The fan-made build’s accompanying video reveals a brick-built driving game that looks like it would actually be a lot of fun to play.

A second runner-up has been announced in the shape of redera00’s Engineering Masterpiece for Ayrton Senna: The McLaren MP4/4. Taking on the LEGO Icons team at its own game, the fan-designed creation offers up a highly-detailed version of the legendary driver’s car.

Finally, in a surprise move, a bonus runner-up has also been revealed. One Car One Man has been assembled by Lil Billy and presents a striking display piece featuring the McLaren MP4/4, an Ayrton Senna minifigure with trophy and plaque, the driver's familiar helmet and a partial recreation of a turbocharged Honda V6 engine.

With the LEGO Ideas Building a Legend challenge coming to a close, fan designers now have just one day left to enter the LEGO DREAMZzz diorama challenge before its May 30 deadline arrives.
