New LEGO Ideas challenge calls for Senna-inspired designs

LEGO Ideas has launched a fresh challenge perfect for Formula 1 fans, centred around Ayrton Senna and the iconic McLaren MP4/4.

As one of the most dominant driver-car pairings ever, having won 15 out of 16 races in 1988, Aytron Senna behind the wheel of the McLaren MP4/4 appeared to be virtually unstoppable. On the heels of releasing a LEGO Icons set based on the iconic car, 10330 McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna, the LEGO Ideas team now want to get in on the action.

LEGO Ideas is calling for fan-designed builds to celebrate the success of Senna in the McLaren MP4/4. There are a few ground rules:

  • Has to include the MP4/4 and Senna
  • Only reference either Senna or the McLaren MP4/4 – other IP references will not be accepted
  • Generic minifigures and cars can be used but must be generic.

The Grand Prize Winner of this challenge will get a seemingly random assortment of sets: 10330 McLaren MP4/4, 10326 Natural History Museum, 10320 Eldorado Fort, 76919 2023 McLaren Formula 1 Car, and 42169 NEOM McLaren Formula E Racing Car, as well as a package of McLaren prizes as well.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.

Can’t wait to get my hands on this. He was my absolute hero growing up. You may have overstated his success in 88 though. He and Prost won 15 races between them. Senna won 8 of those.
