LEGO Ideas designers explain hidden references in Telephone Box

The LEGO Ideas team explained the meaning of some of the more obscure references hidden away in 21347 Red London Telephone Box.

We’ve already unpacked a number of references related to LEGO history and past sets that are tucked away in the upcoming LEGO Ideas 21347 Red London Telephone Box, as well as a few fun features that you might have missed at a first glance. However, there are a few tidbits that are personal to the fan designer himself, John Cramp, in true LEGO Ideas style. Being a theme based on ideas from fans, most LEGO Ideas sets include a nod to the designer’s life and loved ones in some shape or form and 21347 Red London Telephone Box is no different.

“[At] LEGO Ideas, we like to include easter eggs, in all forms, especially for our fan designers,” explained LEGO Ideas Design Manager Jordan Scott. “Some of the Easter eggs are related to John and his family, namely, the ‘TC’ initials for his son and the ‘SC’ for his daughter. The number on the jazz quartet or jazz club poster and the “Your Ideas here’ is his [wedding] anniversary.”

All of those mentioned easter eggs can be found on the stickered details, either inside the brick-built telephone box itself as ‘ads’ or marking the postcode on the railing outside. Jordan went on to explain that the LEGO Group cannot include actual postcodes, phone numbers, and so on so as to avoid someone potentially getting a deluge of calls from LEGO fans. Replacing where real phone numbers and postcodes would go with these nods to John’s personal life is a fun touch that’s ideal for the LEGO Ideas theme.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
