LEGO Ideas and Formula 1 together forms a possible Pokémon prediction

Precedents and pieces established by LEGO Ideas 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine and 71049 F1 Collectible Race Cars bode well for LEGO Pokémon.

With LEGO Pokémon confirmed for 2026, we’ve already speculated that the theme deserves a collectible series, not of minifigures, but rather for buildable Pokémon. The precedent has already been set for collectible series to not just be minifigures, thanks to 71049 F1 Collectible Race Cars.

These brick-built cars have divided the opinions for fans, but it’s clear that they’ve confirmed that a buildable collectible series works. The blind boxes are out in stores and fans have been busy at work collecting cars, or cherry picking which teams they want to find, thanks to Brick Search’s code-scanning feature.

With the reveal of 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine, more fuel is being added to the speculative fire of a collectible Pokémon series through the new capsule element. The two pieces click together, with a transparent element on top that offers a look at what’s inside, and a coloured piece for the base.

For anyone who knows anything about Pokémon, the shape would be perfect for a LEGO Poké Ball, at the perfect size to include a tiny Pokémon, or the parts to build one. Could this be the form in which a Pokémon collectible series will debut?

Considering this new configuration is made up of seemingly new elements, it would make sense that it would be ready for more uses. Making new LEGO elements is an expensive process, so getting the most bang for your buck is a savvy choice. Another LEGO Ideas set, 21357 Luxo Jr., also debuts a new element that is already planned to appear elsewhere, so it wouldn’t be the first time.

Of course, we won’t know for sure what LEGO Pokémon has planned until the official reveal, and we’re just having fun speculating here. As soon as anything is known, stay tuned to Brick Fanatics for all the details.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
