LEGO Ideas 21341 Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage visual guide and gallery

Here’s every witchy detail of the newly-revealed LEGO Ideas 21341 Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage in our full visual guide and gallery.

Inspired by the project submitted by Belgian fan designer Amber Veyt and approved in the third 2021 review round, 21341 Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage takes the witchy cottage from the beloved movie, complete with the imposing gates, magical accessories, and (of course) the iconic characters themselves represented through the six minifigures.

Built in a warm-toned, medieval style, 21341 Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage follows a common trend in recent LEGO sets with two display options, either as a working house or as a museum, depending on which accessories and buildable elements you switch out. As with any LEGO set inspired by an existing movie or franchise, there are plenty of fun details to focus on – so let’s dig into them in our visual guide and gallery.

LEGO Ideas 21341 Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage build

The build itself makes it easy to enjoy both the interior and exterior of the brick-built cottage, depending on your preference. The dilapidated roof lifts away on what looks like some sort of hinge mechanism to reveal the upper floor and all its details, while the back walls also fold out to reveal the downstairs. As well as the cottage itself, the gate, wall, and some of the grounds are also included as a separate buildable element, with enough space for all the minifigures to stand on display.

The costumes in the original Hocus Pocus movie are some of the most memorable, particularly when it comes to the Sanderson Sisters themselves. Each one has its own unique hairstyle and what appear to be brand-new minifigure heads to capture their unique appearances. Even in the more standard-looking characters, the return of the BTS hairpiece captures the signature hairstyle of Max Dennison.

LEGO Ideas 21341 Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage inspiration

LEGO Ideas 21341 Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage takes inspiration from two sources in practice: the original movie and the fan design from Amber Veyt. Comparing the brick-built cottage itself to the original building from the Disney film highlights that it’s a very accurate piece, from the colours of the facade to the placement of the chimney, complete with the purple flame.

Looking at Amber’s own original design, much of the same features have stayed, from the ramshackle exterior walls and ceiling to the greenery climbing the walls. However, the final version has been adapted somewhat, with only the rear walls folding out instead of the entire build folding in half as Veyt originally suggested.

LEGO Ideas 21341 Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage display

The LEGO Ideas designers have clearly put a great deal of thought into providing options for how LEGO Ideas 21341 Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage can be displayed. First up, you have two options for how to display the cottage, with accessories suited for it being a witchy house or a cobweb-filled museum, as in the movie itself.

To enjoy all of the details inside the cottage (of which there are many) the back walls fold out, the roof lifts away, and the set allows for you to continue engaging with 21341 Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage even after you’ve finished building it.

LEGO Ideas 21341 Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage details

From a carton of salt to a dust-covered magic book, there’s more references than we can count hidden away in this set. Every surface and shelf is covered with the same amount of books, potions, and candles as the movie version of the cottage, with plenty of authenticity packed into its 2,316 pieces. Plus, many of the details aren’t stickered, instead including various special printed elements, such as the Black Flame Candle and tombstones at the gate. Both could provide inspiration from some spooky-themed builds outside of LEGO Ideas 21341 Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage.

21341 Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage will be available from July 1 for VIP members and for everyone else from July 4 for £199.99 / $229.99 / €229.99.
