LEGO Ideas Pokémon challenge closes with over 750 submissions

The LEGO Ideas team has its work cut out sifting through more than 750 fan-designed models submitted to the LEGO Pokémon trading card challenge.

A fresh LEGO Ideas challenge arrived at the end of March 2026, one that required creative builders to send in their own designs based on the LEGO Pokémon trading card game. With the deadline for submissions now past, so begins the long process of deciding which of the more than 750 entries will eventually become an official set.

The rules of the LEGO Ideas challenge stated that each of the designs had to be based on one of a specific list of 30 different Pokémon and include a frame to showcase the creatures, matching the look of a full-art trading card.

A whopping 757 LEGO Pokémon trading card submissions have managed to make it through to the next round of the contest, with the LEGO Ideas review board deciding which of those designs will then move forward to the fan vote starting on May 28.

Following that stage, the ultimate winner of the LEGO Pokémon trading card challenge will be officially revealed on February 4, 2027, when we’ll find out which of those fan submissions will become a physical LEGO model.

Those LEGO Pokémon trading card creations include everything from BellaDaFrog’s colourful Dragonite’s Speedy Delivery and Noble Stud’s Full Art Moonblast Gardevoir to the striking look of ElderMarvelousLobster103’s Boundless Bond – Ash’s Greninja and BRICKWILL7’s The Descent of Arceus.

Not only will one Grand Prize Selection be turned into a future LEGO Pokémon set, but the lucky winner will also receive 1% of the total net sale of the model and 10 copies of their completed build.

In addition, every submission that makes it all the way through to the fan vote phase will receive an impressive LEGO prize package consisting of 72151 Eevee, 72152 Pikachu and Poké Ball, 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine, 21365 Love Birds and 21376 Orange Cat.
