Every LEGO Ideas set retiring in 2024 and beyond – February update

The LEGO Group has brought forward the retirement date of one of its best LEGO Ideas sets, shaving an entire year off its planned shelf life.

21338 A-Frame Cabin originally arrived in February 2023, based on a concept by fan designer Andrea Lattanzio, and met with a fond reception from most corners of the community despite the changes made for mass production. And for a while, the LEGO Group had assigned the 2,082-piece set up to three years in production, pencilling in an initial retirement date of December 31, 2025.

It’s now brought that date forward to December 31, 2024, which means you’ve got less than a year to grab 21338 A-Frame Cabin before it’s gone for good. The autumnal model joins eight other LEGO Ideas sets on the way out this year, including the longstanding 21318 Tree House and two more 2023 products in 21339 BTS Dynamite and 21340 Tales of the Space Age.

Still surviving into 2025 are 21323 Grand Piano – the oldest LEGO Ideas set on shelves after 21318 Tree House – and 21330 Home Alone, which originally debuted in 2021. All three of this year’s LEGO Ideas sets (so far) are slated to retire by the end of 2026, so you’ve got ample time yet to grab 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera, 21346 Family Tree and 21347 Red London Telephone Box.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
