LEGO Ideas launches secretive build challenge for future GWP

An exciting new LEGO Ideas challenge has launched today, inviting fans to design a future gift-with-purchase featuring a hidden secret.

Running from June 30 to July 29, the 'Hidden Secrets' challenge asks entrants to create an original build of between 200 and 250 pieces with a concealed surprise inside. The LEGO Group says the hidden feature should be discoverable, striking the right balance between secrecy and surprise.

Entries may include a maximum of two minifigures, but must be entirely original, with no licensed IPs permitted.

After submissions close, a panel of experts will review the entries and select up to 15 finalists. Those designs will then go to a public fan vote from August 11 to August 19.

The winning design will become an official LEGO Ideas gift-with-purchase set, with its creator receiving credit and compensation. The grand prize winner will also receive 10 copies of their set, plus copies of 10351 Sherlock Holmes Book Nook, 21362 Minerals Collection, and 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine.

There is also a second prize, which is fittingly being kept under wraps. The LEGO Group has only revealed that it will be an ‘incredible LEGO Ideas set’, with full details due to be announced when the fan vote opens on August 11.

Finalists whose designs reach the fan vote but do not win the grand prize will still receive copies of 10351 Sherlock Holmes Book Nook and 21362 Minerals Collection.
