Here’s how LEGO Ideas’ STEM set honours the fan designer
Danielbradleyy’s winning project has become LEGO Ideas 21355 The Evolution of STEM and now we know how the set pays tribute to him.
The latest blog post on LEGO Ideas is all about 21355 The Evolution of STEM after it was revealed earlier today. The 879-piece upgrade to Daniel Bradley’s contest-winning ‘Knowledge is Power’ model is rife with Easter eggs despite it being not nearly as big as other recent LEGO Ideas sets. Through various stickers though, the LEGO Ideas design team have managed to hide some interesting secrets.
The blog post specifically notes that you should be checking the Petri dish, the pen and quill, mathematical calculations on the chalkboard, and looking for a secret code in the pages of a book. A bookshelf underneath the main desk has an homage to early LEGO figures too and there’s a Classic Space logo on the older computer model.
Beyond these overall references though, there’s one that continues a long-running tradition on LEGO Ideas through a new seemingly-printed piece. Fan designer Daniel Bradley has a tribute in the 2025 LEGO Ideas set, despite none being proposed in the original submission. This isn’t unusual for LEGO Ideas and there’s something similar in the new Twilight model too.
The post confirms that the cat food advertisement in the microscale city area of 21355 The Evolution of STEM is the fan designer homage, referencing Daniel’s building companion – his cat Zeus.
This small tile element appears to be printed and a second is included in the model on the side of the building too. It stands as the latest in a long line of LEGO Ideas fan designer tributes and it’s good to see them continue, even when the rest of the project has been upgraded as much as it has.
