LEGO Ideas fan vote extended as entry is disqualified

The latest LEGO Ideas contest’s fan vote has been extended following the disqualification of one of the numerous entries for copying a build.

Those who have voted for Nature: The Deer as part of the most recent LEGO Ideas You’re The Final Piece contest will have to decide on another foliage-themed model as the design has been removed from the contest.

The news was announced over on the LEGO Ideas blog, where the only reason given for the removal was that the creation was not entirely the builder’s own work. Whilst the entry has now vanished from the platform, user pacific_bricks in the comments may have discovered the specific portion that was taken from another model.

Pictured on the left is the original entry whilst on the right is a model from Grant Masters. From these images, it appears that the head of the deer has been taken directly from the brick-built artwork. This goes against the guidelines set out for the contest where every part of an entry must be your own original design.

Following this disqualification, anyone who voted for The Deer will be alerted on the platform to have their vote returned to them and put towards another creation. This also means that the contest’s fan vote is now open until August 24, allowing extra time for those that need to decide on their new favourite model.

As a reminder, the winner of this contest may be chosen to have their design featured on the front a future LEGO puzzle, as well as receiving a hefty prize package too.

Comparing the heads of the two, while it’s the same shape and color, it is made out if different blocks, don’t know how much of a difference that makes as the shape is near identical
