LEGO Ideas wants you to build a basketball mascot set

A brand-new LEGO Ideas contest is now underway, inviting you to build a basketball mascot for a chance at designing an official set.

A new LEGO Ideas challenge has launched in partnership with Target, named Hoops and Heroes. The team is asking for the community to create
dynamic builds inspired by the world of basketball mascots, one of which may be turned into an official LEGO Ideas set. These can be display-forward models, front row mascot scenes, or otherwise creative concepts, as long as a mascot is the star of your model.

All submitted models must not exceed 1,000 elements and cannot be designed in the style of a LEGO BrickHeadz. You must submit your entries before June 3 for a chance at winning the contest. You can use digital software or physical elements for your model, but you must not use AI-generated art or copywriting

There is only one prize in this contest, that being the chance to see your model become an official LEGO set. That will also come with the usual 1% of the total net sales of the product, 10 complimentary copies of the LEGO Ideas set, as well as credit and a bio as the LEGO Ideas Fan Designer in the set materials

Whenever similar contests have been held on LEGO Ideas in partnership with Target, the winning build has been exclusive to the retailer in the US. It is likely to be the same in this case. We won’t know the winner of this challenge for a long time, as the winner will be announced on February 11, 2027.

Head to the LEGO Ideas challenge page to enter this competition now, but do so before June 3 for a chance at winning.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
