LEGO Insiders Cassette Player reward review

The buildable Cassette Player currently available at the LEGO Insiders Rewards Centre is a fun and unique little creation that will push all the right nostalgia buttons for fans of a certain vintage.

Redeemable right now and available exclusively at the LEGO Insiders Rewards Centre at LEGO.com (while stocks last) is 6471611 Cassette Player, a small-scale recreation of a tape player from back in the day.

From 145 pieces you put together the player, a cassette tape and some headphones, for a complete build of three parts that all interact with each other as you would hope they can. The cassette tape slots into the player and the headphones plug in at the top too – the only thing missing is music…

It’s a smart and unique set of items to build and the sort of thing that will remain a curiosity once built and put on a shelf somewhere. The ‘price’ for it is 2,400 Insiders points – the loyalty points that you build up on every LEGO.com and LEGO Store purchase, as part of the free LEGO membership scheme, previously called the LEGO VIP program.

2,400 points is the equivalent to redeeming £15 of money-off vouchers, mind, so while the reward may be free to redeem, there is a trade-off to consider there. It’ll depend perhaps on how many points you have, because if you don’t have surplus points to spare, that amount of money off an actual LEGO set will always be more appealing.

For those with points to spare, this is one of the better and clearly more LEGO-centric rewards going at the moment and one that does deliver as you would expect it to.

Sign up to the Insiders program today to start accumulating points on every LEGO.com and LEGO Store purchase you make and head over to the Insiders Rewards Centre to redeem those points for such items as above, or money off vouchers. For more information on all things Insiders including how many points you accumulate on whatever amount you spend, and how much those points are worth, check out our FAQs page.
