LEGO Jurassic Park designer reveals new sets will continue ongoing reference to the films

A LEGO Jurassic Park designer has confirmed that the theme will be sticking to an ongoing froggy reference to the original films.

Fans of Jurassic Park will know that the dinosaurs we saw in the films are only made possible because of DNA taken from frogs that is apparently close enough to dino DNA. As a nod to the films, the LEGO Jurassic Park designers have included frogs in several sets, such as hidden inside 75936 Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage (just one of many creative uses of frogs in LEGO sets).

With the recently-revealed wave of five new sets in 2023, it seems this trend will continue. According to LEGO product designer Atticus Tsai-McCarthy on Twitter, frogs will still serve as ‘building blocks’ for the current wave of LEGO Jurassic Park models.

“Eagle eyed viewers may have picked up on some key details. As frogs were some of the building blocks for Hammond’s Dinosaurs, so too will they be for our sets,” Atticus wrote.

He also shared some images of said frogs in action, forming part of the base of the tree in 75960 Brachiosaurus Discovery, the top of the dung pile in 76959 Triceratops Research, and what looks like a table decoration in 75961 Visitor Center: T. rex & Raptor Attack.
