LEGO Jurassic Park is about to innovate brick-built joints

The next LEGO Jurassic Park set seems to be more game-changing than expected, innovating brick-built joints and what's connected to them.

Following today's reveal of 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex, we've spotted a couple of new pieces in the set that might be game-changing for any future models with joints. A new range of joint pieces connect the head of 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex to its neck.

The existing range of LEGO joint pieces can only handle so much weight, and would almost completely have buckled under the weight of a copy of 76964 Dinosaur Fossils: T. rex Skull, which forms the head of 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex.

This new collection of pieces is capable of handling such a heavy build though and lifestyle images reveal that the joint has a full range of motion, seemingly twisting as well as moving up and down. This has the potential to impact models in Technic, NINJAGO and much more with heavier and bigger builds still able to feature just as much motion as smaller builds without compromising stability.

It's an exciting revelation for many LEGO themes and though it's only included in 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex, this innovative joint has a staggering amount of potential. With NINJAGO's 15th anniversary on the horizon, this would be especially perfect for an even bigger mech than 71821 Cole's Titan Dragon Mech.

For now, you can find these new pieces starting next month in 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex, launching on March 15 or March 12 for LEGO Insiders for £219.99 in the UK, $249.99 in the US and €249.99 in Europe.
