Oops, the Shrek minifigures are releasing too early

The LEGO Group has revealed a wave of new sets tied to major franchise anniversaries, but are those celebrations genuinely important or just a marketing tool?

In our latest video, Brick Fanatics’ YouTube Editor Matthew breaks down all of this week’s biggest reveals: 72051 Donkey Kong Arcade, 11385 Star Trek: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 Bridge, 71053 Shrek, and 21369 The X-Files.

Each set celebrates a major anniversary in 2026, but Matthew asks whether those milestones actually matter to the LEGO Group. Are anniversaries driving these releases, or are they simply a convenient way to market sets that were already in development?

Find out everything you need to know about the new reveals, the anniversaries behind them, and whether they really influence LEGO’s decision-making by watching our latest YouTube video.

Both 72051 Donkey Kong Arcade and 21369 The X-Files will launch in August. Until August 10, purchases of 21369 The X-Files will also include the free gift-with-purchase 40896 The X-Files: Scully’s Lab.

You’ll have to wait a little longer for 11385 Star Trek: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 Bridge and 71053 Shrek, which will arrive on September 1.
