LEGO magazines continue their streak of cool but cheap characters
Upcoming issues of the LEGO Star Wars and Marvel magazines will continue their current trends of including cool but ultimately lower-value minifigures.
As reported by bricky_news over on Instagram, a future issue of the LEGO Star Wars magazine will include a Commando Droid from 75435 Battle of Felucia Separatist MTT, while the LEGO Marvel magazine will arrive with Anti-Venom attached to the front cover. The Spidey villain has so far appeared in two 2025 sets, 76308 Spider-Man Mech vs. Anti-Venom and 76317 Peter Parker’s Apartment.

Those are both pretty good minifigures and the Commando Droid in particular is a neat one to army build, but given the cost of these magazines they’re not necessarily the most cost-effective way to go about it these days. They typically retail for around £5.99 apiece, but the new Commando Droid in pearl dark grey is available in bulk for as little as £2.24 per minifigure on BrickLink.

Anti-Venom, meanwhile, can also readily be procured for less than the cover price of the mag, although when you consider shipping and the convenience factor that one might be a little more appealing (especially if you don’t care for Marvel mechs). There’s no word yet on when exactly we can expect to see either of these issues on shelves in the UK, but it’s likely a couple of months away yet.
The current issue of the LEGO Star Wars magazine in the UK features a Night Trooper mounted to the front cover, which means the next one will likely include a Phase II Clone Pilot, and the one after that Anakin Skywalker from 75401 Ahsoka’s Jedi Interceptor. There’s set to be a Jango Fett collectors’ tin somewhere in the mix too, so it may not be until the summer that the Commando Droid shows up.
As for Marvel, a tin with regular Hulk and Red Hulk minifigures is apparently on the way soon, with Anti-Venom presumably set to follow after that. We’ll let you know as soon as we see either of these magazines on shelves (or get confirmation of their arrival in the UK).

That Anti-Venom mech set was briefly £2.50 in Asda after Christmas. Missed it. Gutted.
I don’t know if I feel great about the price of the mags versus Bricklink+Postage. I guess it can work out cheaper, but I save my Tesco Clubcard points for this sort of purchase. It definitely feels better than buying a car or mech suit I don’t want, or holding out for a megabarg like the one I mentioned above.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Venomised Wolverine someday, but not Spider-Man 2099 (he said, trying to reverse psychology the universe).
PS: Asda near me has had some lovely discounts this last while. Sightseeing Bus £13, Playful Puppy, £13. Both fantastic builds. Some sub-£10 and ~£5 Friends sets. Check the price with an assistant before you rush to the tills, though.
