LEGO Marvel 76313 MARVEL Logo was going to be more affordable
LEGO Marvel 76313 MARVEL Logo is an unusual release and the designers have explained how it came to be and what else was trialled for it.
There’s no doubt that 76313 MARVEL Logo belongs to the Marvel theme as the brick-built logo proudly displays the name of the company with hidden features to pop out five mostly-exclusive minifigures. Aside from the concept of superhero minifigures, it’s unlike anything seen before in LEGO Marvel or most other themes for that matter. That begs the question of how such a build came to be in the fairly formulaic LEGO Marvel line.
At the 2024 Fan Media Days in Billund, model designer Justin Ramsden and graphic designer Mark Tranter revealed the origins and inspiration of this model as well as an alternate design that was trialled, but ultimately abandoned.

“The main inspiration was going to the cinema – we’ve made so many Marvel sets that we go to the cinema a lot, including the fanfare when you see the logo” explained Ramsden to DuckBricks. When I was briefed about doing 76313 MARVEL Logo, it was interesting but we had to think up how to include the superhero play and we wanted the exploding minifigure function.
“That became the starting point for the set, but scale-wise it was dictated by the elements that we had. It’s a statement piece for Marvel fans and the smooth top means you can stick other minifigures on there if you don’t want to show the logo exploding.”

During the development of 76313 MARVEL Logo, the exploding minifigure feature wasn’t always going to be included as a much smaller and more affordable design was trialled.
“We wanted depth to make it a statement piece, but I also tried it as a thing two-module model, but it didn’t recreate the feeling when you see the opening titles of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies,” Ramsden said in another interview with Bricksie. We thought exploding functions were something so iconically LEGO Superheroes.”
Adding the extra function makes the model more unique compared to the many non-LEGO Marvel logo sculptures available for purchase outside of the LEGO portfolio and you can find out more about the set in our in-depth review.
That function makes it a bigger and more expensive build though despite including five minifigures – four of which are exclusive. Since specific pieces determined the sizes of the letters, it was only the depth that the introduction of minifigures and a feature affected. Without them, the build would be a fraction of the size, piece count and likely price.
Despite some negative early reactions to the set, it’s interesting to know how the LEGO logo might have looked. That ultimately wasn’t meant to be though and you can pick up 76313 MARVEL Logo and its five minifigures for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99 from January 1, 2025, alongside a range of new Marvel models.
