LEGO Marvel Advent Calendar 2025 rumour calls for a worthy replacement

Rumour has it that one of the six current themes receiving a LEGO advent calendar won’t be back next year and that calls for a worthy replacement.

One of the latest rumours from the reliable lego_minecraft_goat on Instagram posits that there will be no Marvel advent calendar in 2025 after the theme joined the annual line-up in 2021. It remains a rumour for now but given this year’s introduction of a Disney advent calendar, it may be that the group wants to revert back to five advent calendars a year.

Alternatively, there is another way to stick to six advent calendars a year as we’ve treated to this year – a replacement for Marvel’s annual advent calendar. There are several other long-running themes that have yet to receive an advent calendar of any kind, some of which would be good contenders for a replacement should this rumour be accurate.

As we also proposed back in 2022, Ashnflash has devised a Batman-specific advent calendar that would be eligible for an extension to all of LEGO DC now that Superman and Lex Luthor are back in the theme in 2025. This would keep the Marvel advent calendar replacement within the LEGO superheroes line too and have the chance of offer seasonal suits for Batman and other characters.

There’s another worthwhile replacement should the rumour of Marvel being missing from the annual line-up in 2025 be true though. A LEGO NINJAGO advent calendar would not require any licensing and NINJAGO is no stranger to festive sets thanks to the 4002021 The Temple of Celebrations 2021 employee gift.

A NINJAGO advent calendar would be an interesting addition to the annual festive line-up as LEGO City and Friends have been the only original themes in a mostly licensed range each year since 7952 LEGO Kingdoms Advent Calendar in 2010 signalled the end of the LEGO Castle advent calendars.

Should LEGO Marvel really be leaving the advent calendar line-up next year, a worthy replacement would be just as good or better than taking the range back down to five calendars a year. Take this rumour with caution for now as it remains unconfirmed and we won’t know whether it’s accurate for some time.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
