LEGO Marvel Avengers: Code Red digs deep into LEGO history

The first trailer and release date for Avengers: Code Red have been unveiled, revealing several deep-cut references to LEGO history.

Releasing this Friday on Disney+, LEGO Marvel Avengers: Code Red now has its first trailer after being teased earlier this year. Unlike many other LEGO animated specials, there are some notable Easter eggs for LEGO enthusiasts within.

Explicit references to Hero Factory and BIONICLE are made in the special. The robots that The Collector uses are slightly modified depictions of 2141 Surge 2.0 and Black Widow is battling against 8991 Tuma from too. That’s not all the Easter eggs in the trailer though as the rare Mr. Gold minifigure can be seen in one of The Collector’s display cases.

While they may not ever be released physically, minifigures of Throg and Thor in his classic outfit are featured in the trailer too. Provided the rest of the special is as reference-filled as this trailer, it should be an interesting watch even for those not interested in LEGO Marvel or Marvel in general.

LEGO Marvel Avengers: Code Red releases on Disney+ later this week – October 27, 2023. The streaming platform has recently added a Disney Princess special to its library too.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
