LEGO Marvel Captain America BrickHeadz calls back to a long-retired design
LEGO design techniques have come a long way over the years – but in some areas, why fix something if it’s not broken?
The reveal of LEGO BrickHeadz 40668 Captain America & Red Hulk Figures debuts Sam Wilson’s Captain America and the MCU’s Red Hulk in the typical blocky style. While LEGO BrickHeadz figures all share the same rough proportions, the Red Hulk figure looked particularly familiar – and with good reason.
The build is virtually one-to-one to 2017’s 41592 The Hulk, just with red instead of green and a mirrored hairstyle. Seeing as Red Hulk is just that – a red version of the Hulk – it’s proof that when something ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

After all, it’s a strong design. The extra plate for a heavy brow and the printed definition for the abs and pecs are nice touches, but the real USP of the Hulk BrickHeadz figures are the buildable arms. To show off the hulking muscles, circular plates are used to create those tree trunk arms that both the Red and Green Hulks are known for. Angled slopes are used to mimic fingers and thumbs, features that are not usually large enough to be specifically included in LEGO BrickHeadz sets.
Considering 41592 The Hulk has been retired since 2017, it’s interesting to see that the LEGO Group clearly keeps track of old designs – and it’s never too late to bring one out of retirement when the circumstances require it.
