LEGO Marvel poster upgrades Captain America minifigure

The latest LEGO Marvel Studios poster recreation has given the new Captain America minifigure an effective upgrade not present in the film’s set.

Captain America: Brave New World is in cinemas now with the corresponding LEGO sets having launched last year. These include 76292 Captain America vs. Red Hulk Battle with minifigures and 76296 New Captain America Construction Figure. The minifigure-focused model wasn’t too well-received in our in-depth review with some criticism mentioned regarding the three included minifigures, including the new Captain America.

The LEGO Group seem to agree that the minifigure isn’t perfect as the new poster recreation shared on Instagram has given the minifigure a small not notable upgrade.

The wings on the poster’s minifigure are built differently compared to the minifigure in 76292 Captain America vs. Red Hulk Battle with an increased level of brick-built detail in their shaping and single-stud connection that means they can be angled backwards, as they do in the film.

By comparison, the official LEGO Marvel minifigure’s wings can only move forward and backwards, as if they were flapping. The poster’s take on the wings offers some interesting options for posing, explaining why this tactic was picked for the poster.

In terms of accuracy, it’s a considerable upgrade to the official minifigure, though doesn’t quite reach the level of detail present in the 71031 Marvel Studios minifigure.

Whichever design you prefer, only the minifigure in 76292 Captain America vs. Red Hulk Battle is currently available in the £49.99 / $54.99 / €54.99 model. Captain America: Brave New World is in cinemas now too.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
