LEGO Marvel Thor: Love and Thunder sets confirmed for 2022

Multiple LEGO Marvel sets based on Thor: Love and Thunder are now confirmed to be launching in May 2022.

The newest German LEGO catalogue – scans of which have been published by StoneWars – includes a teaser page for two upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder.

We already know that at least one set is on the way for the former in 76205 Gargantos Showdown, and the catalogue doesn’t allude to any other products joining it. But the splash for the fourth Thor film – which is a direct sequel to Thor: Ragnarok, again directed by Taika Waititi – includes the strapline ‘new sets available from May’, implying we’re getting multiple models for that movie.

Exactly what those sets will look like remains a mystery, but there’s a good chance we’ll see some Guardians of the Galaxy minifigures in the mix, given Star-Lord, Drax, Groot, Mantis and company are all said to be putting in an appearance on-screen. While several of those characters are currently available in 76193 The Guardians’ Ship, it’s been a long time since our last Drax minifigure.

Thor: Love and Thunder has been pushed back from its original release date of February 2022 to July, which means these LEGO sets will debut a couple months ahead of the movie. That’s closer to its relevant cinematic release window than 76205 Gargantos Showdown – which is arriving a full four months ahead of the Doctor Strange sequel – but still means the sets could end up including spoilers for the film.

We’ll likely learn more about these Thor sets as we approach spring. For now, two new Marvel sets will land on January 1, including 76205 Gargantos Showdown and 76206 Iron Man Figure, while the three new mechs have been indefinitely postponed.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
