Mini-LEGO builders set new world record with brick-built cars

A team of young LEGO builders have set a new world record, using nearly 400 brick-built cars made from thousands of bricks.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center Arizona saw a group of mini-LEGO builders set the new world record for most LEGO cars raced in three minutes, as part of Build the Thrill events going on around the globe to celebrate the Formula 1 partnership this year. This kicks off a number of events at the attraction, all geared towards racing.

The group of kids managed to race 375 LEGO race cars through the LEGO Racers Build and Test ramp within three minutes. That was after building 260 cars in around 45 minutes, using 3,000 LEGO bricks and more than 1,000 LEGO tires.

Visitors to LEGOLAND Discovery Center Arizona can also join in on the fun by creating their own minifigure driver and building a race car out of their own imaginations, before putting them to the test in the brick-built pit stop and taking on timed build challenges and races. The Miniland has also been updated to feature Formula 1-themed scenes for guests to enjoy.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
