LEGO Minifigures Series 27 character guide and popularity predictions
We’ve finally got our first proper look at LEGO Minifigures Series 27, so here’s a guide to each of its 12 new characters – and initial predictions on how popular each one is likely to be…
The next series of LEGO Collectible Minifigures goes back to basics for a selection of original characters that encompass a wide variety of different themes both new and old. That means there should be something in here for everyone – but you’re not necessarily going to want to collect a full set of all 12 minifigures, depending on your personal interests.
On the other hand, there are sure to be minifigures you’ll want to buy in greater quantities, and we’ve laid out our predictions for those characters in the minifigure-by-minifigure guide below. Dive in to find out more, and don’t forget that the best way to get the specific characters you’re after is joining Brick Search Plus and using the app’s new and improved minifigure scanner.
Wolfpack Beastmaster

LEGO Castle fans rejoice: Wolfpack’s back and better than ever, namely because this legendary faction finally has a real-life wolf to go alongside its mercenary minifigures. The animal included in this box is all-new, and arrives alongside a new Wolfpack torso print and shield, plus a fun new double-sided head. Toss in dual-moulded legs perfect for adding to the Wolfpack torsos we’ve been buying on Pick a Brick all year, and you’ve got a recipe for a winning minifigure.
In short: expect the Wolfpack Beastmaster to get snapped up quickly in stores. It’s basically Series 27’s equivalent of 71047 Dungeons & Dragons’ Dragonborn Paladin, which is to say that LEGO Castle fans will be picking up as many as they can get their hands on.
Astronomer Kid

Arguably one of the closest things Series 27 has to a Space-themed minifigure (which is totally fair given Series 26 was entirely devoted to LEGO Space), the Astronomer Kid is every one of us who’s looked up to the stars and dreamed of something bigger. The buildable telescope is neat and surprisingly piece-heavy for a Collectible Minifigure, but the stand-out element here is definitely the Astronomer Kid’s torso.
The rocket print across the front is a delight, while what appears to be a prosthetic arm is a nice slice of bonus representation (something the LEGO Group is doing really well lately). This is likely to be a minifigure many people would like one or two of, but not one anyone will be army building.
Steampunk Inventor

It’s hard to believe it’s taken the LEGO Minifigures team 27 series to embrace the concept of steampunk, but it’s safe to say they’ve knocked it out of the park at the first time of asking. The Steampunk Inventor embodies the aesthetic from the top of his printed hat to his dual-moulded boots, complete with a monocle, goggles and some kind of steam-powered arm-mounted contraption.
All that said, though, these pieces do feel so specific to steampunk that you’re not necessarily going to need multiples (and even if you’re building a steampunk world you don’t really want everyone wearing identical outfits). One should be enough for most of us.
Longboarder

We’ve had plenty of skateboarders in the Collectible Minifigures theme, but this is the first time we’ve seen a longboarder. Fulfilling the role of a LEGO City-like character (you always get at least one in a series), this minifigure will likely have pretty wide appeal to those of us looking to fill out our LEGO displays, while also serving up a funky new hat-and-hairpiece combo, generic yet versatile torso and leg prints and a fresh longboard piece.
It’s maybe not the most interesting minifigure within the context of the whole group, but there’s enough going on here that at least a few of us will want to pick up a couple of Longboarders in January.
Plush Toy Collector

Perhaps Series 27’s most adorable minifigure is the Plush Toy Collector, complete with a pair of brand new printed plush toy pieces. Like the Longboarder, this is another minifigure where the individual pieces may be more appealing than the sum total of them presented here – and that makes her an ideal pick for buying more than one of, because you can find cool uses for that face print, hairpiece and so on elsewhere.
Jetpack Racer

The real star of the show for LEGO Space fans in Series 27, this futuristic Jetpack Racer is a cool mash-up of old and new. He boasts maybe the best printing of any character in this series, which feels very modern, while what we can see of his brick-built jetpack is in equal amounts retro (as is the Octan logo printed on his leg). In fact, the only real downside to this minifigure is that there’s nobody for him to actually race.
That’s one potential reason to buy more than one, swapping out (for example) the head print and perhaps the colour of the jetpack or something to differentiate them, but this feels like one most people will want to at least own one of.
Cupid

The LEGO Collectible Minifigures theme has a long history with characters pulled from fairy tales and folklore, so it was really only a matter of time before Cupid came long. His red bow is neat, the hairpiece feels like a solid choice and there’s really nothing to grumble about with any of the printing choices here – it’s Cupid alright – but it’s such a specific character that anyone interested probably won’t want more than one.
Bogeyman

Series 27’s scariest minifigure is the Bogeyman, a sort of mythical monster on which you can really project any of your own fears – but has been realised here as a terrifyingly cute dark blue baddie with a unique moulded headpiece (which was surely inspired by All Elite Wrestling’s The Beast Mortos, come on now). It’s a neat design and that spooky book is a fun print, but chances are you’ll only be interested in getting one. Who’s ever heard of an army of bogeymen…
Cat Lover

There was one thing Series 27’s Cat Lover needed to deliver to succeed: a brand new cat mould. Well, good news, because that’s exactly what this minifigure includes. The fluffy white feline is one we’d love to see revisited in more colours down the line, and arguably you might have hoped to have seen a couple of cats in the box here, but that pink of ball of string is a fun alternative accessory too.
Top it off with a fun cat jumper, legs printed with stray cat hairs and a hairpiece that’s still fairly fresh in the LEGO catalogue, and this is one minifigure we can see real-life cat lovers buying several of.
Hamster Costume Fan

The LEGO Collectible Minifigures’ costumed characters are always fun to see, but their appeal is a little narrower compared to others: first you need to be interested in these animal mascots, and then second you need to be interested in the specific animal in question. But if hamsters are your thing, you should be all over the Hamster Costume Fan on January 1, because this one’s been executed brilliantly.
Even then, though, you’re probably only going to want one. Unless you’re keen on stocking up on what looks to be a unique kiwi-fruit 1×1 tile. Or maybe a lime? But those are toxic to hamsters, so probably not…
Pterodactyl Costume Fan

Of the two costumed characters in Series 27, the Pterodactyl Costume Fan may find more favour simply because dinosaurs are cool, we’ve already had two previously (the T. rex and Triceratops costumes), and these particular mascots are readymade for plonking down in 10326 Natural History Museum. That doesn’t necessarily mean anyone’s going to want multiples, mind you, so it should still be relatively easy to find in January.
Pirate Quartermaster

Series 27’s other throwback minifigure doesn’t quite have the same army-building potential as the Wolfpack Beastmaster, but the Pirate Quartermaster remains one of the line-up’s stand-out characters for being potentially the most detailed LEGO Pirates minifigure to date. She’s got unique prints from top to bottom, a fresh dual-moulded hairpiece, a cloth skirt and – perhaps best of all – a brand new cockatoo.
Pirates fans will likely want at least a few to mix and match those parts across their displays, and to stock up on cockatoos, so this is still likely to be another in-demand character in Series 27.
71048 Series 27 launches January 1, 2025. The best way to ensure you only buy the characters you’re interested in is joining Brick Search Plus and using its new and improved minifigure scanner to identify the minifigures in each box.
