LEGO Night Mode light kits are ‘a test’

The LEGO User Lab has confirmed that LEGO Night Mode light kits are “a test” rather than a product launch.

Earlier today, LEGO Night Mode lighting kits were revealed to be on display at LEGO World Copenhagen. Brickset shared images of these new products, with fans unsure of whether they were available to buy or not.

Since then, a representative from the LEGO Lead User Lab has clarified that these are not available to buy. The LEGO Lead User Lab is a project from the LEGO Group that intends to work with small businesses, before either absorbing them into the company or supporting them as independent entities.

Here are the official comments on LEGO Night Mode:

Wanted to let everyone know it’s just a test we’re doing in Lead User Lab. As you might remember, we believe lights are super interesting and we’ve been engaging within the adult fan community already. We know many adult fans love them, so we wanted to do more research and better understand the regular consumer appeal too. Got great consumer response and feedback so far. We’re hoping these insights will contribute to building a potential pilot in the future.

The sets are not available for purchase and are instead intended to start a dialogue with potential consumers.

Light Kits are on display for 71043 Hogwarts Castle, 10260 Downtown Diner, 21318 Tree House, 10265 Ford Mustang and 41374 Andrea’s Pool Party. Brickset reports the Hogwarts kit as priced at 1449DKK (approx £160) and the Tree House kit as priced at 649DKK (approx £70).
