LEGO NINJAGO, CITY and Disney 2021 set details emerge

More word on next year’s LEGO CITY, Disney and NINJAGO sets has emerged online.

Initial rumours of 2021’s LEGO CITY and LEGO NINJAGO sets first popped up in September. Promobricks reported that CITY would focus on Police and Fire subthemes (surprise! Water is wet), while StoneWars claimed that NINJAGO would be heading into the jungle.

Now, Brickset has seemingly confirmed some of those rumours by adding set names to its database. Here’s the full list of sets it says is arriving in 2021 for LEGO CITY:

60278 Crook’s Hideout
60279 Mini Fire Truck
60280 Fire Truck
60281 Fire Helicopter
60282 Mobile Fire Brigade Control Centre
60283 Vacation Motorhome
60284 Construction Site Truck
60286 Beach Rescue Quad
60287 Tractor
60288 Racing Buggy Transporter
60289 Airshow Jet Transporter
60290 Skate Park
60291 Modern Family House
60292 City Center
60304 Crossing with Traffic Lights

That tallies pretty well with Promobricks’ list, though a few of the rumoured set names are missing from Brickset’s database. The wording has also been changed on a few, suggesting these may just be placeholder names for now.

Meanwhile, here’s the current list of LEGO NINJAGO 2021 sets, according to Brickset:

LEGO NINJAGO Legacy

71730 Battle Set: Kai vs. Skulkin
71731 Battle Set: Zane vs. Nindroid
71732 Battle Set: Jay vs. Serpentine
71733 Battle Set: Cole vs. Ghost Warrior
71735 Tournament of Elements
71736 Cole’s Boulder Blaster
71737 X-1 Ninja Charger
71738 Zane’s Titan Mech
71740 Jay’s Electro Mech
71741 NINJAGO City Gardens

LEGO NINJAGO Jungle

71745 Lloyd’s Jungle Bike
71746 Jungle Dragon
71747 The Guardian Village
71748 Catamaran Sea Battle

Again, not all of those names marry up with StoneWars’ original list. That may be due to their translation between languages, or Brickset may have more concrete info. Either way, it’s looking likely that we’ll be seeing both a brand new Jungle subtheme and more Legacy sets for NINJAGO in 2021.

Finally, Brickset has also provided a few hints as to the Disney sets we’ll be seeing in 2021. The online database has listed seven sets coming next year, and while they don’t currently bear names, they do carry insightful tags. 43181, 43184 and 43185, for example, are tagged “Raya and the Last Dragon”, implying they’ll be based on Disney’s 2021 animated film.

The other four sets will apparently focus on Frozen II, Cinderella and The Little Mermaid. There’s no word yet on what exactly they’ll entail, but 43189 – a Frozen set – is tagged as “Storybook Adventures”, indicating it will join this year’s wave of self-contained playsets.

For more 2021 set news, check out Brickset’s apparent confirmation of next year’s LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Harry Potter, LEGO Art and LEGO Vidiyo sets. But make sure to treat those and everything here with a healthy dose of scepticism until the LEGO Group chimes in.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.

Question is, how does Brickset know any of the names?
