LEGO NINJAGO Roblox partnership offers a look at the future

The LEGO NINJAGO partnership with Sonar Studios has reached another Roblox game, offering a peek at one character’s future form.

Earlier this year, the LEGO Group partnered with Sonar Studios to feature NINJAGO content in one of their Roblox games – Creatures of Sonaria. That partnership has now continued with another in-game event, but this time for the aptly-named Dragons Adventures.

The four-week event has now kicked off in the Roblox game, and content creator BardakVgolovi has shared a full guide to the first week’s content, and NINJAGO fans will want to check it out for at least two details.

Riyu is featured as a dragon for players to collect, raise and train in the game, depicted in his baby and adult forms as seen in the first three seasons of LEGO NINJAGO: Dragons Rising. There’s a third form for Riyu in the event that has yet to be seen anywhere else, though – his elder form.

Riyu’s elder form depicts the dragon character all grown up, with more streaks of yellow and much bigger wings. Whether this will be the same appearance for Riyu if or when he ages up again in the NINJAGO series is unknown. So far, everything in Sonar Studios’ NINJAGO partnerships has accurately reflected the series. Each of Riyu’s forms has been depicted in physical sets so far, including in 71810 Young Dragon Riyu and 71820 Ninja Team Combo Vehicle.

The week overview for the NINJAGO event also features some artwork representing the content players can tackle each week. This includes images for Riyu, the Source Dragon of Motion, Thunderfang and a fourth dragon that we might have seen in the series.

The blue dragon sits alongside the Source Dragon of Motion. The shape of its wings and horns bears a striking resemblance to the Source Dragon of Energy seen silhouetted in the first season of LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising. The identity of this dragon has not been confirmed, but fans are speculating that this is our first coloured look at the Source Dragon of Energy.

The Source Dragon of Motion and Thunderfang have both been recreated in 71822 Source Dragon of Motion and 71832 Thunderfang Dragon of Chaos, which are available now. While we wait to see what the future holds for NINJAGO, this Roblox game event has proven to be insightful, with three more weeks of content for fans to explore.

The LEGO Group’s interest in Roblox games extends beyond NINJAGO, too, with LEGO Sonic recently featured in SEGA’s Sonic Speed Simulator, developed by Gamefam.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
