LEGO NINJAGO short offers first look at Riyu’s new season 2 form
Riyu has a lot of potential still to grow into in LEGO NINJAGO – and we’ve now got an early look at where that growth might take him.
Having first appeared in The Merge: Part 1, Riyu is an important (and adorable) baby dragon from LEGO NINJAGO: Dragons Rising. He stands out due to having an unusually high amount of dragon power, despite being only a youngster, and is thought to only grow more powerful as he gets bigger. Of course, young dragons grow fast, so it’s only to be expected that his appearance will change between the first and second seasons of the animated series.
Now, we’ve got our first look at an older Riyu in a LEGO NINJAGO short that was released today on the LEGO Group’s YouTube channel. Riyu has kept his blue colour white light blue accents but they have expanded to include golden spots on his horns and legs. He’s also large enough to ride, although is only seen jumping and being used as a living ladder, rather than flying.
In LEGO form, we’ve already got smaller moulded versions of Riyu in sets like 71792 Sora’s Transforming Mech Bike Racer and 71798 Nya and Arin’s Baby Dragon Battle, among others. Considering how much Riyu has now shot up in size, however, we can likely expect a brand new moulded version of the young dragon in future sets – or even a buildable version of him that can be ridden by a minifigure.
Indeed, the latest LEGO NINJAGO rumours suggest that we’ll get a whole set dedicated to the character in the 132-piece 71810 Riyu the Baby Dragon, believed to cost €14.99. This set is rumoured to be coming out in March of this year, so it won’t be long until we get another good look at a new and improved Riyu design. For now, check out the LEGO NINJAGO short below to see Riyu in action.
