LEGO NINJAGO summer 2024 set pays homage to Ultra Agents

One of the LEGO NINJAGO summer 2024 sets is paying homage to Ultra Agents, in a way that only a LEGO NINJAGO set can.

Amazon Mexico has revealed images of three LEGO NINJAGO summer 2024 sets, including 71818 Tournament Arena Battle and its six minifigures. Included in the selection is a minifigure named Tox, who NINJAGO fans will recognise as the character’s first NINJAGO minifigure, but not her first minifigure overall.

Tox is the Elemental Master of Poison introduced in the Tournament of Elements season in 2015, sharing a design with Toxikita from Ultra Agents. While these aren’t the same character, the spy theme’s minifigure worked ideally for NINJAGO’s Tox. Unfortunately, Ultra Agents and the last Toxikita minifigure retired in 2015 and it has been difficult to acquire this character ever since.

Now, LEGO NINJAGO is bringing back the character in 71818 Tournament Battle Arena, offering Tox her first minifigure in a LEGO NINJAGO set. While this comes with a redesign for the character, certain aspects of her appearance have stayed the same.

The likes of the green detailing on the face, the sleeveless arms and the spiked choker at the top of the torso’s printing are all back from the Ultra Agents minifigure, paying homage to the relatively short-lived theme while bringing back a NINJAGO character from nearly a decade ago.

You might be wise to not take this as a sign that Ultra Agents is coming back as Tox and Toxikita are different characters who share the same design. Now, Tox has a new design with some familiar elements to differentiate between the two.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
